About

Rotterdam School of Management, Erasmus University (RSM)

The cosmopolitan city of Rotterdam is the second biggest city in the Netherlands and home to the largest port in Europe. Having suffered huge damage from bombing raids during the Second World War, it has been extensively rebuilt to become a modern, international destination with a diverse architectural landscape. The Nieuwe Maas river divides the city in two and can be crossed using the emblematic Erasmus Bridge; Rotterdam’s most famous landmark. It is named after philosopher and scholar Desiderius Erasmus, who also lends his name to Erasmus University.

The university’s main Woudestein Campus houses Rotterdam School of Management, Erasmus University (RSM), which is one of the top-ranked business schools in Europe. RSM has more than 50 years of experience in business and management education, holds the coveted triple accreditation, and has a global alumni network of more than 40,000. The school’s central mission is to be a force for positive change in the world. In order to fulfill such a global mission, RSM has a suitably global perspective. Its students come from more than 100 different countries, it maintains partnerships with 150+ partner schools worldwide, and has an international office in China.

RSM has a total of 14 master’s programs, including their flagship Master’s in International Management / CEMS, which is ranked as the 5th best program of its kind by the Financial Times. The program includes at least one semester abroad, while exchange students from all over the world join the Rotterdam cohort during the program. The remaining master’s courses cover different aspects of the modern business landscape such as accounting, marketing, entrepreneurship, and investment. RSM also offers a pre-master program to prepare students for a master’s, not only to equip them with the necessary skills, but also to prepare them to be a force for positive change - because that’s the RSM way.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to be able to speak Dutch to study in the Netherlands?

The Dutch are known for their proficiency in the English language and this, combined with the highly international nature of both the campus and the city of Rotterdam ensure that you will manage just fine without any Dutch language skills. Of course, it is often very rewarding to be able to speak the language of the country you are living in. Also, if you are looking for a job on the side, or hope to remain in the Netherlands after graduation, speaking Dutch can be a big advantage.

What are the application deadlines for the MSc programmes offered by RSM?

The application for all of our programmes opens 1 October. Some of our programmes have a limited capacity and we only accept a certain number of applications, which means that the application could close earlier than 15 May if the maximum capacity has been reached.
