Taking off With AMS
Engaging with career services is an optional component of a master’s degree, but it is something every student should make time for. Searching for a job is often nerve-wracking, solitary, and rarely considered fun. However, recent graduates must know how to market themselves and use the latest tools to succeed in today’s job market.
Albert Segura Molla, Head of Career Services at Antwerp Management School, is committed to ensuring their graduates can “succeed in the job market for life.” (00:13)
Under the guidance of Albert and AMS partners, students identify their career goals, learn about modern recruitment strategies, and are supported in their personal career journeys.
Albert describes Career Services at AMS as an airline. The students are the pilots and the AMS Career Services team is the crew that supports them. The crew does their very best to get the pilot to their dream destination.
This engaging metaphor makes the process more enjoyable and emphasizes the student’s active role in navigating their career journey.
“We work a lot as a community, and it’s always tailored to you,” Albert says. This community-driven approach includes over 40 career events annually, ranging from one-on-one coaching sessions to large career fairs. (00:57)
Career Services provides strategic, practical, and actionable advice to help students achieve their goals. However, everyone doesn’t have a clear destination in mind. Career Services works in tandem with the Global Leadership Track to help students uncover their career values.
By deep-diving into their skills and interests, students learn how they can make an impact in the world.
“Basically, we focus a lot on where you focus your energies and efforts in your job search and career development,” Albert explains. “But also in a really fun way.” (05:59)
Students build a solid foundation for future success as they align their career goals with their personal values and strengths.
Innovative Job Search Strategies
AI-driven resume screenings and virtual job interviews are replacing traditional job-search methods. These technologies allow for a more efficient and complex job search experience than simply handing in a resume.
AMS prides itself on providing students with access to the newest development tools and strategies.
These tools include the latest HR tech innovations that streamline the job search process and enhance students’ employability.
For instance, AMS partners with top providers to offer AI-based resume reviews and networking tools. These resources help students optimize resumes and connect with industry insiders, making their job search more effective and targeted. This investment in technology ensures that AMS students have a competitive edge in the job market.
Personalized Strategies for Success
One of the standout features of AMS’s Career Services is the one-on-one coaching available to students. This personalized support addresses individual career goals and challenges, offering tailored advice and strategies for success.
The effectiveness of this approach is evident in the impressive placement rates of AMS graduates. “There are plenty of success stories because we have over 90% of placement after AMS in terms of where [students] go to work after one year of studies,” Albert notes. (07:02)
This high placement rate is supported by partnerships with over 60 global recruiting teams actively engaging with AMS students. These partnerships provide valuable opportunities for students to practice their job search skills and secure positions with top companies. (08:39)
Another unique element of AMS Career Services is the dedicated support they offer their international students. Albert adds, “We always try to select companies that are open to international talent. That is very important because we have over 65% international talent.” (12:39)
Every year, AMS welcomes students of dozens of nationalities. AMS Career Services recognizes that there’s an extra complexity to starting a life somewhere new. They aim to help students bridge the gap, overcome difficulties, and find a successful and fulfilling career in Belgium or Europe.
Albert admires the bravery that international students show, “It’s so courageous that you decide to leave everything you have back home and come to study in Europe to grow your career.” (16:33)
For example, Albert shares the story of a finance student from Lebanon who was acutely worried about finding a job that could provide a visa sponsorship. Thankfully, Career Services’ guidance also helps students to navigate such challenges. And this student was committed to seeing it through.
“He was one of the persons that came the most [to career events],” Albert says, “and basically, he got a job with one of the clients in a really managerial position.” (07:40)
AMS also focuses on helping students find purpose in their careers. “We know that for the next generations, purpose is the new career ladder,” Albert explains. Through partnerships with leading social impact organizations and access to exclusive networks, AMS helps students pursue careers that align with their values and positively impact the world. (15:12)
AMS Career Services aims to empower students to take charge of their own career journey. “Then you can go confidently, with more joy and success, to what matters to you.” (09:55)
By helping students to feel supported, connected, and in control, AMS empowers its students to confidently achieve the career goals that are most meaningful to them.
