ELISAVA

School

ELISAVA is the first school of design, an internationally oriented educational and research institution affiliated with Pompeu Fabra University. The school is situated in Barcelona and is home to around 2,200 students and more than 800 teachers. The academic quality at Elisava is demanding, and excellently recognised internationally. We are the first design school in Spain, and we have been innovating for fifty years through a reference educational model that advances with the synergy of five key elements: the interaction of design and engineering, the teaching community, our classes, and a system of Internal Quality Assurance.

Location

Barcelona offers premium public transportation and health services and an attractive climate that encourages you to enjoy life in the city. The city lives for design which is evident in the entire urban space with public facilities, museums, art galleries, associations, showrooms and restaurants. 

Elisava is located on La Rambla, in the beating heart of Barcelona while just a few meters from the Mediterranean sea, an internationally recognized area for its historical and cultural value. Elisava offers special accommodations for its students through agreements with different residences around Barcelona.

Accreditations

Elisava “places special emphasis on the application of a System of Internal Quality Assurance (SGIQ_ELISAVA) that facilitates the fulfillment of all the obligations derived from the Framework for Verification, Monitoring, Modification and Accreditation of their recognised Degrees”. This ensures that the system is always under review and consistently improving through adaptations to the changing reality of the school. 

Programs

Elisava offers a multitude of Master’s programs all set under different areas of expertise. The Masters Pro are programs structured in 6 essential areas: Graphic Design, Technology, Interaction, Management, Innovation, Space Design, Product Design and Communication. 

The University Master in Design and Communication is taught in Spanish with some classes in English. University Master graduates will have the qualifications to various professional positions, directing projects or teaching in areas related to design and communication.

Scholarships

Elisava currently offers a Masters Beyond Scholarship for prospective students enrolling to a Beyond Master’s Degree starting in September. A 50% tuition waiver is awarded to candidates who meet the requirements for the scholarship. 

Students can also apply for one of the Elisava Masters Pro Scholarships alongside their application for a Masters Beyond Scholarship. 

Fun fact

Elisava Barcelona School of Design & Engineering is the first Design school in Spain, established in 1961, founded due to the effort of professionals and cultural intellectuals (architects, theorists, and designers). The group was concerned about the absence of education in design and dedicated themselves to pushing Barcelona towards social and cultural modernisation.
