Pursue a Master’s at One of France’s Leading Business Schools
A master’s or Master of Science degree can be a gateway to a wealth of opportunities. Whether you’re starting your career, looking to pivot to a new industry, or launching your own venture, a top-tier degree can make all the difference. Yet, for many ambitious professionals, it can be difficult to select the right program.
Emlyon business school, based in Lyon and Paris, offers more than 20 postgraduate programs across a wide spectrum of business disciplines. As one of the best business schools in Europe, emlyon has many alumni who go on to work for well-known multinationals, while some launch their own successful business ventures. It’s no surprise then that the school is ranked #2 in France by the Global Employability University Ranking & Survey (GEURS) 2026.
“Emlyon has a great reputation among the French business schools and also across the whole world,” says Swarun Selvakumar from India, an alum of emlyon’s MSc in Global Sales Excellence program. “This helped me a lot because [having] the brand [and] the logo of emlyon on your resume actually gives you an upper hand.” (04:11)
It’s a reputation the school has built over its 154-year history of academic excellence and constant innovation.

Career Support That Goes Above and Beyond
Studying in France as an international student requires a high level of support and guidance. Emlyon’s Career Center provides exactly that: it’s dedicated to helping students launch their careers and find internships or work placements. To do this, it takes a highly personalized approach.
“Emlyon wanted to focus on the foundations of each and every candidate’s profile… they wanted to make sure every candidate’s profile was strong from the very [beginning],” says Swarun. (02:00)
For him, it was the Career Center’s attention to detail that stood out. “Every country has a different set of expectations, from what a resume should look like, how a LinkedIn profile should look, and how you should present yourself,” he adds. “These were all the small things… the important things that might help you land a perfect job opportunity.” (02:18)
Experienced career coaches work with students on a one-to-one basis. They help with everything from personal branding and interview technique to career goals and mastering the art of salary negotiation. Career events and company meetings are organized year round, and recruiters can post their job offers on emlyon’s dedicated online platform. Students and graduates have direct access to a pool of offers, with more than 500k offers posted each year.
In addition, the Career Booster program provides personalized follow-up support in the years following graduation from an emlyon program.
The Numbers Say It All
Emlyon’s career outcomes are illustrated by outstanding employment data for the master’s and MSc programs. Statistics show that 96% of emlyon master’s graduates secure a job within six months after graduation. Impressively, 70% find employment before graduation.
When they graduate, emlyon students earn an average salary of €59,000. The most common sectors are consulting (17%), finance (17%), sales and business development (15%), and marketing (12%). Additionally, 4% go into purchasing, supply chain, and logistics.
Emlyon alumni typically become consultants, M&A analysts, sales managers, business developers, and account managers. Almost two-thirds (63%) remain in France, while the rest start international careers abroad. Common career destinations for emlyon alumni include China, Switzerland, the U.K., and the U.S.
Voilà! Breaking Into the French Job Market
Shortly after graduating, Swarun landed a role as a U.K. and Ireland Account Manager at management software firm DimoMaint. Even though his level of French was limited, he still found employment opportunities in the French capital.
“Most of the multinational companies in France, especially those based in Paris, look for people who speak English… comparatively, the job competition is higher,” says Swarun. “If you’re new to speaking French and you’re only looking for English-speaking jobs, I would suggest you look for SMB companies with 200 people or less and companies whose target customers are outside of France.” (06:45)
Swarun is not alone in his success. Many emlyon business school alumni have gone on to enjoy purposeful careers at international companies throughout France. Top recruiters include Deloitte, BNP Paribas, McKinsey, and L’Oréal, among others.
A Launchpad For a Global Career
Emlyon opens the door to incredible job opportunities. Yet, these opportunities don’t always come lightly. Candidates need dedication, resilience, and a readiness to seize the moment.
“You have to make sure that you prepare yourself in terms of aptitude, reasoning, role play, and culture fit,” Swarun advises. “You have to tick every check box for you to get this opportunity.” (06:10)
However, with a world-class degree under your belt, you’ll have the knowledge base, network, and toolkit to take full charge of your career. The rest is down to you.
