In September 2021 Time Out Magazine ranked Amsterdam second out of more than 37 cities worldwide in a survey meaning the people who have been or live there rather enjoy themselves. So much so that in the pan-European ‘International Student Barometer’ 97% of students agreed that Amsterdam was ‘the place to be.’
The presence of countless Dutch and international business, academic establishments and cultural organizations all lead to one thing; Amsterdam being the social and artistic heart of the Netherlands and namely a world-renowned global business centre. Accreditations
ABS is one of the few business schools that have been accredited with the ‘Triple Crown’ which is the AMBA, AACSB and EQUIS. “Only 1% of all business schools/faculties with business programs (approximately 14,000) have managed to achieve this prestigious status.”
The Association of MBAs (AMBA) is the name given to the international impartial authority on postgraduate business education. Their aim is to increase the development of business education and the MBA qualification across Europe.
The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) is the oldest global association devoted to developing management education worldwide.
The European Foundation for Management Development (EFMD) is an international accreditation organization for business schools with a focus on raising the standards of management education.
Programs
ABS presents over 150 Master’s programs and 15 Executive Master’s programs. Executive Master’s programs are for senior professionals seeking to add depth to their knowledge pool and ABS offers Executive Masters, Executive Programs and Open Programs in various business related fields.
Open Programs are essentially Masterclasses and modules that fit into an executives’ needs in every stage of his/her career. ABS also offers Incompy programs which are specifically equipped to correspond with the training objectives of your organization.
Scholarships
The University of Amsterdam (UvA) has put in place several scholarship programs focused on making available opportunities to talented and motivated international students to pursue a degree at the University. The University offers three scholarships for talented students coming from outside of Europe applying for the Master’s programs.
Each faculty at UvA (Economics and Business, Humanities, Law, Science, and Social & Behavioral Sciences) has a selection of scholarships aimed at international students which you can read more about here as well as other financial aid information available from the University.

“The University of Amsterdam over 40,000 students, 6,000 employees and 3,000 PhD researchers coupled with an annual budget of €850 million making it one of the largest broad-based research universities in Europe.” 10,000 of the 40,000 students at the university are international students. Every year 550 PhDs are awarded at UvA as well as publishing 9,500 scientific articles annually.
