With around 24,000 students from 80 countries, Birmingham City University is a large and diverse place to study. The University has an enviable reputation for providing quality, student-focused education in a professional and friendly environment.
Birmingham City University consists of two main campuses, with additional locations throughout the city. BCU’s city center campus is a multi-million pound center of excellence with facilities spread out across campus including a robotic laboratory, an isolation booth and many more.
Birmingham is one of the UK’s most diverse cities with over 20% of its citizens coming from overseas so no matter where your origins lay, you’ll feel at home. This results in fascinating culture events all throughout the year students can enjoy like the Caribbean Festival of food, music, dance and art. All around Birmingham you can find beautiful green spaces, in fact the city has more trees than any other city in Europe scattered across nearly 600 parks.
BCU has been recognised for its dedication to innovation by being the second in the country (and first in the West Midlands) to be awarded a major national accreditation. The UK’s Institute of Innovation & Knowledge Exchange (IKE) awarded the Investor in Innovations Standard to the University’s Research, Innovation, Enterprise and Employability (RIEE) directorate.
Created 21 years ago, the IKE institute was created as the UK’s professional body for innovators and consistently adds validity, quality and consistency to innovation in business. Being the only institution in the Midlands to receive the prestigious accreditation, the University is now able to offer more courses and support to local businesses.
Birmingham City University offers over 150 master’s degree programs and have recently introduced a wide range of new master’s degree courses starting in late 2021 and early 2022 to hopefully give prospective students that are looking for a course to suit their skills and interests, a perfect fit.
The newly introduced Masters degree courses contain programs in the areas of: Arts, Design & Media; Business; Computing & Digital Technology; Education; Healthcare; and Social Sciences.
The university offers several scholarships including a Graduate scholarship containing a 20% tuition fee reduction available to all BCU graduates applying for an eligible Master’s degree qualification within two years of their graduation. Scholarships are also available to students working full-time and study part-time or vice versa with two options being provided.
Apart from these scholarships, the Asipring Researchers Awards are given to individuals with an outstanding academic profile, currently holding an offer for a relevant Master’s course and have the ambition to continue their studies into a PhD. Up to 12 awards will be made, each a contribution of £3000 to tuition fees.
Birmingham consists of nearly 35 miles of canals, which is actually more than Venice in Italy. Creating cozy vibes for a city tour on a boat, you can opt to cruise down the canals and enjoy the beautiful architecture of the city while gaining a different perspective on life in Birmingham. On the canal, you can also enjoy views of restored gems from the industrial era like mills, workshops and warehouses right alongside exquisite modern architecture, like the Cube.
