Founded in 1936, NHH is Norway’s first business school, located in Bergen, Norway. It is a leading research institution in economics and managerial education. NHH consistently ranks as a top business school in Europe, and its MSc in Economics and Business Administration has been ranked the #1 master’s program in Norway. With close ties to the local business community and a curriculum that incorporates real-world experience, NHH graduates are highly sought after by top employers – in fact, 98.6% of students land a job upon graduation. NHH’s faculty consists of top business leaders and experts in their field. Studying abroad is also an integral part of all NHH programs, with the Norwegian school maintaining strong connections with top universities worldwide.
NHH’s campus is located in Norway’s second-largest city, Bergen. The beautiful Norwegian city is situated on Norway’s southwestern coast, surrounded by mountains and fjords. NHH’s campus is located just outside the city center in the beautiful Ytre Sandviken. The city features hillside houses, panoramic views, and plenty of hiking trails.
Home to a large number of students, Bergen is a safe, student-friendly city with plenty of cultural activities on offer besides stunning nature. This includes festivals like Bergenfest, an outdoor music festival, and Borealis Festival, an experimental music festival, as well as museums like KODE, one of Scandinavia’s largest museums showcasing art, design, and music.
NHH holds the prestigious triple-crown accreditation, as it holds accreditation from the EFMD Quality Improvement System (EQUIS), the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB International), and the Association of MBAs (AMBA).
NHH offers two master’s programs. The MSc in Economics and Business Administration is ranked as the #1 master’s program in Norway by the Financial Times. Students can choose one of 10 specializations, from Accounting to Strategy and Management to Energy, Natural Resources and the Environment. As a government-funded program, the program has no tuition fees – this applies to both Norwegian and international students.
The CEMS Master’s in International Management (CEMS MIM) is another top-ranked master’s program offered at NHH. An alliance of world-class academic institutions around the world, NHH is the only school in Norway that is a member of CEMS. The CEMS MIM aims to prepare students to become responsible leaders who contribute to a more sustainable and inclusive world. As part of the CEMS MIM, students participate in an exchange semester at a CEMS partner school, providing an international business experience that promotes leadership and critical thinking skills.
NHH is a publicly-funded university and therefore charges no application or tuition fees. This applies to both Norwegian and international students.
Sustainability plays an important role in all of NHH’s activities, including research, teaching, dissemination of knowledge, collaboration and partnerships, and day-to-day operations. With a sustainability-focused mission statement (“Together for sustainable value creation”), NHH is also home to several student associations focused on sustainability and responsibility. This includes the NHHS Green Team, NHH Aid, NHHS Energi, and the Business Committee – the latter of which organizes an annual event inviting non-profit and humanitarian organizations to present career opportunities to NHH students.
NHH has also joined the Principles for Responsible Management Education (PRME) initiative, working towards the UN Sustainable Development Goals with a special focus on SDG 4 (Quality Education), SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth), SDG 10 (Reduced Inequalities), and SDG 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production).
