Broad Competencies With a Specialized Focus
Are you looking for a business education that offers foundational knowledge combined with a specialized focus? EDHEC Business School, one of the leading business schools in France, offers this type of tailored program through its Master in Management (MiM) in Business Management track, also known as the Grande École Programme, a two-year academic course taught at the school’s Lille campus. Students have the opportunity to pursue a Master of Science (MSc) degree in the program’s final year. A standout specialization is the MSc in Marketing Management, ranked an impressive #10 in the QS Business Master’s Rankings 2025 for Marketing.
Alumna Sanjana Nurani, from India, shares how deep academic study and professional immersion developed highly marketable skills. These skills and the experience she gained helped her land her current role as a beauty social and consumer insights analyst.
The Power of the MSc in Marketing Management
The EDHEC Master of Science in Marketing Management is designed to provide students with the essential skills for modern marketing roles. The curriculum blends foundational skills such as analytics and business strategy with creative thinking and problem-solving. For Sanjana, one of the program’s key strengths is the way it prepares graduates for today’s market.
“EDHEC’s emphasis on agility, problem-solving, and cross-functional thinking makes graduates like me extremely market-ready,” she explains. “And I can say that, from personal experience, everything that I learned during the two years of my program … has been huge. Within the classroom and outside the classroom.” (05:50)
Like the school’s other master’s programs, the MSc in Marketing Management at EDHEC has three key features:
Corporate Partners
EDHEC offers strong corporate connections with its master’s programs. Students gain exposure to a network of over 100 corporate partners. “What stood out to me,” says Sanjana, “is that these partners were not just symbolic, but they actively shaped our coursework and also the hiring pipelines.” (00:50)
In Luxury and Fashion, EDHEC partners with Lacoste and Louis Vuitton, giving students premium insights into the industry. Students also engage with professors who have deep industry expertise and connections.
Case Studies
The EDHEC MSc in Marketing Management has students participating in brand-led, industry-driven case studies. They engage in real-world challenges while becoming adept at structuring solutions, defending recommendations, and working cross-culturally in teams.
“Case studies are central to the learning experience,” says Sanjana. “They force you to think like a marketing consultant or a brand manager analyzing marketing dynamics, consumer insights, go-to market strategies, financial trade-offs, all under time pressure.” (02:09)
This real-world simulation is the best preparation for careers in marketing after graduation from the master’s program.
Learning Expeditions
Students enrolled in one of EDHEC’s MSc programs in Business Management take part in Learning Expeditions designed to deepen their knowledge and understanding of industries. Students visit leading global firms at destinations as diverse as Sofia, Dublin, and Krakow. In addition, insightful workshops connect academic insights with real-world practice.
Two Distinct Concentrations
During the program, students choose between two concentrations: Luxury & Fashion (focused on brand management in high-end markets) or Fast Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG – focused on consumer-driven marketing).
Luxury & Fashion
This concentration focuses on the unique dynamics of the luxury industry. For Sanjana, it was the perfect fit.
“For me personally, I always knew I wanted to go into the luxury industry,” she says. (03:50) “My elective focuses heavily on brand storytelling… heritage management, DNA management, experiential traits, experiential retail, and also high-end consumer psychology, which is ideal for careers in Maison, beauty groups, or premium lifestyle brands.” (04:25)
This specialization track gave Sanjana the tools and confidence to pursue her passion for fashion, beauty, and luxury.
FMCG
This concentration, launched in 2025, is ideal for those who want to focus on brand strategy, consumer insights, and high-volume market dynamics for consumer goods.
“The FMCG track, on the other hand, is more data-driven and operational, with a large focus on pricing, distribution strategy, category management, forecasting, and also innovation pipelines, which I think is perfect if you want to prepare for brand management roles in large consumer groups,” explains Sanjana. (04:42)
This kind of career-ready training is vital when stepping into roles in the competitive realm of corporate brand marketing.
Exceptional Career Outcomes
The MSc in Marketing Management at EDHEC helps students land roles such as brand manager, marketing consultant, or digital marketing specialist. Post-graduation, students often transition successfully from apprenticeships to full-time positions at leading luxury, fashion, and FMCG brands.
“What is impressive is the geographic and sector diversity that you achieve,” Sanjana says. “For example, students get placed across Europe. I have a few colleagues who are working in Switzerland, some in Luxembourg, some in Asia, and globally in general… both in the corporate and entrepreneurial environments.” (03:17)
The program also provides students with state-recognised “Grade de Master” status. This helps to secure the APS (Autorisation Provisoire de Séjour), which entitles them to stay and work in Europe upon graduation.
Cross-Cultural Collaboration and Emotional Intelligence
The program equipped Sanjana with a range of core soft skills. These are the behaviors, techniques, and traits necessary for a modern marketing environment.
“When I talk about soft skills, I think adaptability, cross-cultural collaboration, resilience, agility, and persuasive communication, along with emotional intelligence,” explains Sanjana. (09:25)
EDHEC’s diverse cohort proved to be extremely valuable too. “The most important skill I learned was [how to work] with people from different backgrounds,” she says, “how to understand the creativity and way of thinking of different people, and how to come to a consensus with such a varied group of people.” (07:10)
These interpersonal skills have proved to be hugely important for Sanjana’s career. “EDHEC continuously puts you in intense multicultural team settings, which teaches you how to manage different working styles, give and take constructive feedback and criticism, and perform well under pressure,” she says. “These are [skills] that I use personally in my job every single day. And I have EDHEC to thank for that.” (09:45)
This is a testament to EDHEC’s reputation for bridging the gap between academic learning and immediate, real-world skill application.
Anything is Possible With the Right Support
Sanjana knew that moving to a new country to study a master’s would be hard. From the language barrier and basic admin to making friends, she faced many challenges.
“The support… as an expat student coming into a new country… that was something that was unparalleled for me,” she says. (12:04) “The faculty was amazing, they were so supportive. They genuinely care about the students.” (10:55)
Sanjana is also keen to highlight the help provided by the International Student Office (ISO) and the EDHEC Career Centre.
“ISO helps you with all the administrative stuff. They guide each student through all of the issues they might face,” explains Sanjana. “Then the Career Centre helps you in preparing you for potential interviews, they offer free coaching sessions, [and] resume checking sessions. It’s amazing. And also, EDHEC offers free French courses… that’s what I had. And honestly, that’s the only reason I’m fluent in French and got my previous internships, and also my current role. (11:10)
Sanjana’s journey is certainly an inspiration for anyone thinking of studying for a master’s. The combined approach of the EDHEC’s MSc in Marketing Management offers versatility and core competencies, accelerating career growth. It’s a compelling option for today’s ambitious professionals.
