Norm Brodsky College of Business at Rider University

Rider University, located in New Jersey, US, is a historic and dynamic institution of higher education. Established in 1865, initially as Trenton Business College, Rider now boasts four colleges: the Norm Brodsky College of Business, the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, the College of Education and Human Services, and Westminster College of the Arts.

Norm Brodsky College of Business, in particular, highlights Rider’s role as a premier hub for business education. The school prides itself on its AACSB International accreditation, a prestigious recognition that only 2% of business schools worldwide achieve.

The Norm Brodsky College of Business offers a range of master’s programs tailored to advancing careers. These include on-campus and online Master of Accountancy (MAcc), Master of Science in Information Systems (MSIS), and Master of Business Administration (MBA) options.

The college’s commitment to practical learning is supported by its Entrepreneurial Studies program and the annual Norm Brodsky Business Concept Competition for high school students. The winner earns a full tuition scholarship to Rider.

Norm Brodsky has had an obvious impact on the school, so let’s delve into his life and accomplishments.

Who is Norm Brodsky?

Norm Brodsky is a distinguished alumnus from the class of 1964 at Rider University.

Went on to become a seasoned entrepreneur who overcame bankruptcy at 45. He recovered from that by building and selling CitiStorage, a document-archive business, for $110M. For 32 years, Norm has worked alongside his wife and business partner, Elaine.

Norm imparts his extensive experience to the next generation of business leaders. He mentors emerging entrepreneurs through the Birthing of Giants Fellowship Program and contributed as a columnist to Inc. Magazine. Brodsky currently operates a long-stay hotel and is also an adjunct professor at Rider.

Elaine sheds light on the delicate balance of partnership in their marriage and business ventures in an interview with Inc.com

She says, “I attribute our success to the fact neither of us wanted to get divorced on the same day. But seriously, we took care of different things and didn’t step on each other’s toes. I think the main thing is respect. Respect and trust that the other person would not do anything to destroy our marriage – or our business.”

The couple’s contributions to Rider University led to a name change in honor of their dedication.

A Generous Gift from Norm and Elaine Brodsky

In 2019, Rider University renamed its College of Business Administration to the Norm Brodsky College of Business following a generous $10 million donation by Norm and Elaine Brodsky.
