Exploring New Horizons in Business and Technology

Business education needs to keep up with the ever-evolving landscape of tech. EDHEC Business School’s Global Master in Management – Global Economic Transformation & Technology (GETT) is an English-language, French Grande École program that bridges business and cutting-edge technology. Over two academic years and one professional immersion year, students take courses in three countries at prestigious partner universities.

“What’s at the heart of the Global Master in Management – GETT program is the experience,” Program Director Sébastien Dieuaide explains. “What the students will experience in this program is an amazing human, cultural, and business journey that will take them to three major cities in the world of tech innovation.” (07:33)

For years, the GETT program has been synonymous with a broad global perspective, with classes spanning three continents: Europe, Asia, and America. For the 2024 academic year, EDHEC Business School has introduced the GETT Europe pathway, which marks a significant expansion of EDHEC’s Global MiM offering. This new route is tailored for students aiming to deepen their expertise in data and entrepreneurship within Europe by studying in the capital cities of three European countries: France, Germany, and the United Kingdom.

The new GETT Europe pathway has a strong focus on data sciences and, like the USA-Asia pathway, seeks to impart top-notch management acumen and tech skills to students with a specialization in entrepreneurship in the final year of the program.

A Focus on Tech

Both Global Master in Management – GETT pathways incorporate a blend of academic rigor, practical experience, and a deep dive into tech. Director Dieuaide says the program recognizes technology’s role in shaping business practices.

As he puts it, “We really wanted to create a program which was in keeping with how important the tech industry is nowadays. So, there is a very strong emphasis on tech and innovation both in terms of the courses that are taught but also in terms of companies and sectors to which we prepare the students.” (00:20)

In other words, pursuing a degree in EDHEC’s Global Master in Management – GETT program positions graduates advantageously in the tech-centric job market. However, there is room to become even more specialized in topics like data management, entrepreneurship, sustainability, and finance through an array of electives in both pathways.

On top of that, this program lets students travel Europe or the world while gaining certifications and degrees from three prestigious institutions.

From Paris to the World with the Global Master in Management – GETT

The EDHEC Global MiM – GETT program spans two academic years and a year of professional immersion. Students study in three prestigious institutions in three different countries in both pathways. However, students always start their academic journey at EDHEC Business School in Paris.

EDHEC’s campus is located in Paris’ historic business district situated between the Paris Stock Exchange and the iconic Palais Garnier Opera House. The French capital has the most Fortune 500 company headquarters in Europe and a growing startup ecosystem, making it a great place to start your Global Master in Management adventure.

The Global Master in Management – USA-Asia Pathway

The historical Global Master in Management – GETT program, now called the USA-Asia pathway, is delivered in partnership with two prestigious institutions, offering a cross-ocean multicultural master’s education.

After the first semester in Paris, students travel to Seoul, South Korea, an economic powerhouse and an innovation hub. They attend classes at Sungkyunkwan University Graduate School of Business (SKK GSB), the #1 MBA program in Korea (FT 2023), and discover a new culture in the heart of Seoul.

After their gap year, for the second academic year, students travel to the state of California in the USA. This year is held entirely at the Haas School of Business at UC Berkeley, an institution known for its academic excellence and strong ties to the Silicon Valley tech ecosystem.

As Director Dieuaide explains, at Berkeley, students “will follow a program which will enable them to specialize either in finance, consulting, or business development with a strong focus on tech.” (02:27)

In the USA-Asia pathway, students receive a master’s degree from SKK GSB and the GETT diploma from UC Berkeley Haas alongside their Master in Management – Grande École degree from EDHEC Business School.

Global Master in Management – Europe Pathway

The new GETT Europe pathway was launched to meet the growing demand for tech skills in Europe.

Director Dieuaide says, “The focus, therefore, in this pathway will be on data and tech in the first semester at ESMT Berlin and entrepreneurship at Imperial College Business School.” (03:49)

He continues, “We decided to create a new pathway because we realized there was a strong desire for prospective students to work in the UK in particular and to develop stronger skills in data management,” Director Dieuaide says. (04:02)

After Paris, students on this path head northeast to Berlin for their second semester. They take classes at ESMT Berlin, an institution founded by 25 leading global companies that is among the top business schools in Europe. At ESMT Berlin, Europe pathway students earn a certificate after immersing themselves in data management, emphasizing quantitative analysis.

Following their gap year, Europe pathway students head across the English Channel to do their final academic year at Imperial College Business School, a school consistently ranked among the world’s best research-led business schools. In London, Global Master in Management – GETT students earn a Master of Science (MSc) in Innovation, Entrepreneurship, and Management.

Refine Your Expertise Through Professional Immersion

The Global Master in Management – GETT program incorporates a unique professional immersion year between the first and second academic years.

This gap year presents an opportunity for students to test their knowledge by undertaking two back-to-back six-month internships. This opportunity allows students to expand their professional networks, enhance their resumes, and clarify their career direction.

“Not everybody knows what they want to do in their career,” Director Dieuaide explains. “The gap year is a good way for them to experience things and perhaps realize that there are some areas which they [found appealing] which actually are not for them. Or confirm that their initial plan is the good one, and then they can move forward.” (09:47)

Armed with practical experience and a clearer career vision honed during the gap year, students can enter their second year confident their specialization aligns with their professional goals.

Securing Your Spot in EDHEC’s Global Master in Management – GETT Program

Now how do you get into the EDHEC’s Global Master in Management – GETT program? Director Dieuaide emphasizes the importance of the motivation letter in the application process, highlighting it as a critical opportunity for applicants to convey their unique fit.

“This is a small group; this is a community. Therefore, we’ll pay a lot of attention to the motivation letter,” Director Dieuaide points out. “In that motivation letter, it’s important that you show how you can project yourself in a specific program in a specific pathway… The more you can show what you can bring to the school, what you can bring to the program, and to the community, the better your cover letter will be and the more willing we’ll be to take you on this adventure.” (15:28)

So, positioning yourself as an ideal candidate for EDHEC involves more than just showcasing your achievements. It’s about clearly articulating your fit and vision for your chosen Global Master in Management – GETT pathway.

Are you attracted to Silicon Valley’s fast-moving startup world? Or does becoming a data specialist appeal more to you?
