Location

The BSL institution was founded in 1987 and is located in Lausanne, Switzerland. Lausanne makes all of its inhabitants feel special with its high standard of living coupled with its excellent geographical location. Notably, Lausanne is on the Western side of Switzerland, meaning a major European city is just an hour's flight away.

Nature lover? Look no further than Lausanne as it's literally surrounded by it. All Swiss city architectures kept one thing in mind: to be either in the middle of nature or surrounded by it. Lausanne is no different, from the calm shores of the Geneva Lake to the towering view of the Alps, Lausanne is a marvel of a city.

Accreditations

BSL programs are accredited by ACBSP and have been since 1996 which assists students in validating their studies when looking towards potential employers. The ACBSP accreditation has a specific focus on employability through a student-centered teaching and learning approach.

BSL’s management system has also been accredited by ISO 9001 Accredited since 2004, which sets a high standard for quality management systems. The standard is based on several quality management principles such as a strong customer focus and the motivation of top management.

Programs

BSL currently offers 3 Master’s degree programs under the umbrella term of: Master of International Business; each with a different concentration. The most recently implemented program, Master in International Business (MIB) in Sustainability, aims to allow students to apply all their learnings, either to start a business, complete an internship or perform a comprehensive case study within a social enterprise.

The MIB in Finance challenges students to test their academic knowledge through real-world projects and internships in Switzerland and abroad. BSL’s third Master’s program, MIB in Entrepreneurial Leadership, is a globally accredited course with plenty of access to real business projects and internships locally as well as abroad.

Scholarships

BSL offers partial scholarships to candidates on a need and merit basis. Applicants are evaluated based on their intentions to contribute their skills to the community of students and faculty at BSL.

To apply for the scholarship, applicants must provide a Scholarship Letter as well as their complete file at the initial application stage. The Letter must indicate whether the student is applying for a scholarship based on merit or financial need.

Fun fact

In the BSL paper “Swiss Negative Emissions Fund - paying for Net Zero” BSL proposes a public fund, starting in 2025 and fulfilling its potential by 2030. It involves a compulsory payment by all Swiss emitters of greenhouse gasses used to remove co2 through various projects. BSL believes that to create the right incentive, only polluters should pay, not the whole community.

BSL is also currently proposing a pilot fund starting in 2022, on a voluntary basis sitting at approximately 1% of the capacity of the full fund.
