Merrick School of Business is the business school of the University of Baltimore in the United States. It currently has over 27,000 alumni worldwide, with a mission to transform businesses in Baltimore and beyond. With five discipline-focused master’s programs, Merrick School of Business offers a business curriculum that is relevant and incorporates sustainable business practices and corporate responsibility. Full-time faculty members are experts across industries, from healthcare to accounting to government. Almost all of them (96%) have obtained doctorates from some of the best business schools in the US, such as Harvard, Syracuse University, Duke, and MIT.

Location

Merrick School of Business’ campus is located in Baltimore’s dynamic business sector, home to some of the country’s biggest companies like Amazon, Verizon, Deloitte, and PwC.

Baltimore itself is an attractive destination for students, with a relatively low cost of living and plenty of job opportunities. The University of Baltimore also provides lots of social and cultural activities, housing more than 90 student-run organizations, as well as sports and fitness facilities and community engagement opportunities. Getting around Baltimore is easy with public transportation. In fact, Merrick School of Business is located across from Penn Station, which offers quick train rides to major US cities, including New York City, Philadelphia, and Washington, D.C.

Merrick School of Business is accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB International), representing the highest standard of achievement for business schools worldwide.

Programs

Merrick School of Business offers five master’s programs across key business and management disciplines. All programs are designed with the working professional in mind, offering flexibility and up-to-date curricula to advance your career. The M.S. in Accounting and Business Advisory Services, the M.S. in Business-Finance, the M.S. in Cybersecurity Management, and the M.S. in Taxation are highly flexible programs, available both on-campus and online (or hybrid).

The M.S. in Nonprofit Management and Social Entrepreneurship is a joint program offered in partnership with the University of Baltimore’s College of Public Affairs.

Scholarships

All graduate students at Merrick School of Business are automatically considered for a merit-based scholarship during the admissions process.

The business school also offers several scholarships categorized by topic. This includes scholarships like the Ben Cohen Scholarships (awarded to graduate business students with a minimum GPA of 3.0), the Henry A. Heinmuller Graduate Scholarship (awarded to candidates with outstanding academic achievement and financial need), and the Lawrence F. Milan, Jr. Graduate Accounting Scholarship (awarded to students with a minimum GPA of 3.5 and a GMAT score of 500 or higher).

Fun fact

The University of Baltimore was founded by a group of civic leaders in Baltimore, with the aim of providing low-cost, part-time, evening studies in business and law to working adults. The initiative soon grew into a full-scale university.

Today, the school has over 27,000 alumni and around 500 current graduate business students. It maintains its focus on offering flexible master’s programs, making high-quality education accessible to ambitious working students.
