A Master in Management with a Financial Perspective

EDHEC Business School offers a Master in Management (MiM) program with four tracks for students to specialize in: Data Science & AI for Business, Business Management, Global Economic Transformation & Technology, and Finance. The Finance track marries management principles with an intensive focus on finance.

The EDHEC MiM Finance track offers a unique and comprehensive curriculum covering a wide range of subjects and skills. It provides students with a well-rounded education and prepares them to land their dream jobs. The track features top-ranked career support, ensuring EDHEC students are ready to lead in the finance industry.

Professor of Finance Laurent Deville serves as the Finance track’s Director and describes its essence as giving students a 360° view of finance in the first year so they’re ready to compete in the job market by the program’s second year. Graduates emerge with dual master’s degrees: a Master in Management and a Master of Science (MSc) degree in a chosen finance specialty. (00:40)

An added benefit of joining the Finance track is that it’s on the Nice Campus. “The Nice Campus of EDHEC Business School is fully dedicated to finance,” Professor Deville says. (02:51

The campus is renowned for its finance-focused faculty and cutting-edge resources. Comprehensive data sets, a Bloomberg trading room, and research centers instill in the program the latest perspective of the financial industry. A career center specialized for placement within the financial industry aligns students’ academic achievements with their professional ambitions.

The Structure of the EDHEC Master in Management – Finance Track

Offering a holistic education in finance, the EDHEC Master in Management – Finance track is structured around two academic years plus a year of professional immersion. Professor Deville emphasizes the program’s progression, “You have the generalist perspective, and then you embark on a more specialized perspective depending on your own taste.” (12:05)

The first year provides students with a 360° view of finance and prepares them for the job market. The second year is a gap year, an opportunity for students to engage directly with the industry through internships. In the third and final year, students specialize, choosing a Master of Science degree that aligns with their career aspirations and interests. (00:52)

Specialization and Professional Immersion: Tailoring Your Path

The gap year is dedicated to professional immersion through internships. It is a time for students to apply their learning in real-world settings and gain hands-on experience.

In the final year, students have the opportunity to specialize by selecting a Master of Science degree that aligns with their career goals and interests. This specialization is where the program’s flexibility truly shines, allowing students to tailor their education to their specific aspirations within the finance industry.
The current possible specializations are Financial Engineering, Corporate Finance & Banking, Accounting & Finance, and Climate Change & Sustainable Finance.

The EDHEC Finance Career Centre

Regardless of a student’s chosen specialization, the EDHEC Finance Career Centre helps put their knowledge to work. As Professor Deville explains, “From the very first day at EDHEC, the students will be accompanied by the career center. They will be able to fine-tune their career objectives, their personal objectives, and build the strategy that matches this.” (12:27)

EDHEC’s Finance Career Centre is ranked number 1 in France in the FT 2023 Master in Management career service rank. The EDHEC career service team has helped graduates land jobs at top financial firms like Bank of America and Goldman Sachs, among others.

From personalized career coaching to exclusive finance recruitment events, the Centre ensures that students are well-positioned to secure top positions in the finance industry. Once working, the Master in Management – Finance track’s sustainability focus ensures graduates are ready to lead the financial industry toward a more sustainable future.

Why EDHEC Stands Apart: A Focus on Sustainability

EDHEC is one of the top 10 European Business Schools, and students in all their programs receive a forward-thinking business education. This is especially true in the critical areas of innovation and sustainability.

“We are already witnessing the financial industry changing itself,” Professor Deville states. “Pushed by regulation and pushed by society, it has to change in a sustainable way. If the industry changes, also, its requirements are changing. The industry is looking for candidates who already have some knowledge of sustainable finance.” (12:45)

EDHEC Business School places sustainability at the heart of its mission. This commitment is woven into the curriculum of its Master in Management programs. A compulsory first-year course on the science and economics of climate change ensures that students acquire foundational knowledge of critical sustainability challenges.

All specializations deliver expertise in sustainable finance, but students can also choose to specialize further by pursuing an MSc in Climate Change & Sustainable Finance as their second degree. EDHEC offers this degree together with the engineering school MINES Paris – PSL. Through this unique partnership, graduates gain a deep understanding of the scientific principles underpinning climate change and sustainable energy solutions.

Landing a Successful Career in Finance

Carving out a successful career in finance isn’t an easy feat. That’s why the EDHEC Master in Management – Finance track equips graduates with a foundational understanding of finance, a full year of work experience, and a chosen specialization that sets them apart from the crowd.

However, students aren’t expected to have their niche worked out from the start. Instead, the opportunity to uncover their specialized path unfolds during their studies. Studying the foundations of finance equips students with a holistic understanding of the field, giving them the context to commit to a finance specialty confidently.

Professor Deville once again highlights the program’s unique approach: “From the first year, students get a financial perspective that is wide and large and allows them to fine-tune their own taste and see in which field of finance they want to specialize… From the very start, you really embark on a finance journey that will allow you to get where you want to go.” (02:07)

EDHEC’s Master in Management – Finance track fully equips students with essential skills and experiences. The program opens doors to many opportunities, effectively preparing them to thrive in various roles in the dynamic global financial sector.
